MSc Urban Agriculture and Green Cities

The MSc in Urban Agriculture and Green Cities program focuses on the interconnectedness of various cultural systems within the urban environment. It recognizes that architectural, environmental, agronomic, health, energy, social, and economic factors are closely linked and influence all stages of urban projects.

This cross-disciplinary program integrates diverse fields, including agronomy, architecture, planning, and geography, preparing future managers to view urban agriculture as an essential component of urban life. Students are equipped with the skills to make informed decisions in complex and dynamic environments.

The program is designed to train professionals in urban innovation strategies and sustainable environmental development, emphasizing the application of innovative horticultural solutions to the built environment. It anticipates future needs within both the public and private sectors.

Key objectives include acquiring technical expertise to integrate plant-based projects into urban development plans, developing management skills to lead multidisciplinary teams, gaining a comprehensive understanding of urban agriculture and plant projects at all stages, and adopting a systemic approach to urban challenges beyond sectoral boundaries.

The program, offered at the Rouen campus, spans 18 months and consists of 550 hours of training, equivalent to 90 ECTS credits. Instruction is in English, and applicants must hold a Bachelor’s degree or have completed their first year of a Master’s program.
