Forest Fires – Activities by the Center for Fire Defense (CDF)

The Fire Classroom is the area of the Center for Fire Defense (CDF) develops educational programs for the active prevention of forest fires. The main objective is to raise awareness about the responsibility of each of us in the care of our forests and the prevention of forest fires. The CDF seeks to inform participants about the value of forests and their resources, the devastating impact of forest fires on ecosystems, and the techniques and resources available for fire prevention and suppression. The activities provide an opportunity for participants to understand the role they can play in preserving the environment, fostering a sense of responsibility and stewardship. The different activities help to integrate climate change adaptation and disaster risk reduction strategies into educational curricula. By empowering individuals with knowledge and skills, the CDF helps build a resilient society that can respond effectively to climate-related challenges, including the increased frequency and intensity of forest fires due to climate change. Primary school students will learn about the prevention and extinguishing operations in Castilla y León that act when a fire occurs to minimize its impact on the area.
