On 2–3 September 2024, UniLaSalle Beauvais hosted the fifth training session of the Erasmus+ project OpenPass4Climate (C5). Held in a hybrid format, the event brought together learners and staff from all partner institutions and marked a key transition toward the practical implementation of Climate Open Badges, the core outcome of OP4C.

A Training Focused on Foundations and Hands-on Practice

The first day introduced participants to essential concepts of the project:

  • eco-pedagogy,
  • Open Badges and the European Open Badge Passport,
  • the GreenComp sustainability competence framework.

The University of Valladolid opened the session with insights from the international focus group, providing a conceptual grounding for the badge design. CSCI followed with a practical workshop on the project’s dedicated Moodle platform, guiding participants through uploading content and navigating macro-sections.

Co-Creation Workshop: First Steps Toward OP4C Video Tutorials

In the afternoon, participants worked collaboratively on scriptwriting for video tutorials that will support the Passport’s learning paths. A first draft video was produced, introducing learners to GreenComp competences—an essential foundation of the future digital learning sequence.
This workshop allowed contributors to refine the intended pedagogical format for the upcoming learning capsules.

Scientific Follow-Up and Progress on Project Results

Day 2 was dedicated to cross-work-package coordination, including:

  • progress updates on all PRs,
  • scientific and methodological alignment,
  • planning of upcoming validation milestones.

The session concluded with a structured feedback round, capturing learner insights to refine the next steps.

A Major Step Toward Climate Badge Implementation

C5 represents a decisive shift from conceptual development to hands-on implementation. From this point onward, students engaging in climate-related activities—awareness, participation, or action—will begin to earn their first OP4C Climate Open Badges, paving the way for the creation of the European Climate Competence Passport.
